What has helped you to thrive?

I think what’s helped me feel supported is knowing that my family and friends are always here for me, especially my mum and my best friend Claire. Also, initially I felt quite isolated as everyone I saw in the breast clinic was so much older than me. Finding people around the same age as me on social media and reaching out to charities like Trekstock has made it feel less alien to be going through breast cancer at 30. Olivia Smith’s ‘Lad Bible’ article was published on the same day I was diagnosed and she opened up a whole new world to me. Reading her posts and blogs made me feel more positive and less on my own and I would have never done things like have my eyebrows tattooed ready for chemo if I she hadn’t mentioned it on her blog! My family and friends are amazing but social media and the internet has opened up a whole new world of support for me to compliment them.

Kaeti's Story

On the 18th June 2018, approximately 13 people’s lives in the UK were changed for ever as they were diagnosed with breast cancer. One of these people was me, 30 year old Kaeti, one half of this blog. My life was bound to change the second the nurse told me “the team are very concerned about what the tests have found”, what I didn’t anticipate was the fact the life’s my my family and friends also changed on that day.
