Laura's story I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer at the age of 25 almost 4 years ago on 24th Feb 2014. This was stage 3 er+ And her2+. I went through chemotherapy, mastectomy, radiotherapy and Herceptin for a year alongside daily tablets of tamoxifen and monthly injections of Zolodex to help keep it at bay. I also went through 4 reconstruction operations to remove my other breast too and reconstruct both sides using implants In October 2016 I was sadly diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer after a large tumor was discovered in my shoulder and small tumours along my spine and in my pelvis. I had to undergo a major shoulder operation to reconstruct my shoulder followed by more chemotherapy. I am also now on duel her2 therapy every 3 weeks which is keeping my tumours stable and under control for now. So at the moment I am doing pretty well and managing to live a relatively normal life. I had to give up work as a self employed hairdresser due to my limitations in movement with my arm and I spend half my life in the hospital or doctors. But I have been well enough to have some nice holidays and spend important time with friends and family as although the treatment is currently working, it is not clear how long it may work for and therefore I know one day I will get the news it is spreading again. But until that point I want to live as much as possible.
