In light of the current COVID-19 situation in the UK, we have made the decision to hold this event digitally instead. We will have the same stellar panel of experts and young adults living with and beyond cancer to give advice, share their stories, and answer your questions. The event will still be at 7.30pm on Wednesday 18th March, but now you can access it from the comfort of your own home.

To access from your computer, you just need to click the link here: https://zoom.us/j/106285326.

To access from your phone, you will need to download the Zoom app, and then click the link: https://zoom.us/j/106285326

Thank you, Team Trekstock

Hosted by Emma McAuley (Trekstock Young Adult Ambassador), join us to talk about the issues facing cancer patients in the LGBTQ+ community. Whether its fear of judgement, lack of understanding from the health services, or a lack of representation in the national conversation, we want to shine a light on the reality of the LGBTQ+ experience in the cancer world.

With expert advice from Dr Michael Brady (National Advisor on LGBTQ+ Health), Brad Gudger (founder of Alike, and a young adult living with the after-effects of cancer), and other young adults talking from their own personal experiences.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 (commonly known as Coronavirus) situation, Trekstock is closely following the advice from the Government and NHS England.

Following the current guidelines to limit non-essential social contact, we are making plans to move all our events on to a digital platform, or postpone if that is not possible. We will not be holding any in-person events until further notice. The health of the young adults we support is always our first priority.

We understand that this can be a worrying time for you so Trekstock will be providing as much guidance as possible. Please see the Advice on Coronavirus for People With Cancer document (produced by One Cancer Voice, a coalition of leading cancer charities) for answers to frequently asked questions. For the most up to date information, please check the advice from the UK Government: Coronavirus (COVID-19): UK Government Response and the NHS: Coronavirus (COVID-19), which will both be updated regularly.

The first page of this document also identifies some people with cancer who may be more at risk of becoming seriously ill if they contract the COVID-19 infection (commonly known as the Coronavirus). The Government's current advice is that people who would normally be advised to have the flu vaccine (such as those with chronic diseases) should take "particular care to minimise their social contact”, which may mean staying at home for the next 12 weeks from this weekend. You should speak to your Oncology team or Clinical Nurse Specialist if you have questions about your own medical situation.
