We know that being diagnosed with cancer in your 20s or 30s is hard enough (understatement of the year!), let alone in lockdown and with the fears of Covid 19 looming.

During this difficult time, we want you to know that we've still got you and will continue to connect you with others who get it too. We know that the effects of cancer live on way past treatment ending, which is why we've brought in the best experts we know, two young adults who have been there.

For these events we wanted to create a safe space to make you feel less alone. You'll get a chance to meet others who 'get it' and hear from young adults who have been through it too, hindsight is a beautiful thing.

When your treatment ends, many of your friends and family will be celebrating and expect you to feel like you're on top of the world. We know that many of you feel far from that and tell us that it's even harder than the treatment itself. Much is expected of you, let alone from yourself. We want to empower you by passing the baton back and equip you with tools to make navigating your 'new normal' that little bit easier.

We know each cancer experience is different, so remember some of the things you may hear during this event you may want to bank for later or may not be right for you. This event mostly aims to:

  • Act as a reminder to make sure that you are at the centre of your recovery
  • Empower you to ask the right questions when talking with your oncology team
  • Seek support when you need it
  • Connect you with others who are in the same boat

We'll be joined by two young adults from our community, the lovely Carolina and Dani Binnington (Founder of Healthy Whole Me) both of whom are navigating that path right now.

Carolina was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at 30. After finishing her treatment, at the end of 2018, she struggled with fatigue and wanted to regain the strength she'd lost during treatment. She has since completed our Renew exercise programme and attended many of our events including Meet & Move.

Dani Binnington was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33, she's a mum of 3 and during her treatment she struggled with diet before she found a healthy way of eating that worked for her. She has now founded Healthy Whole Me and joined us at our Meet & Move events to help guide other young adults to find a wholesome and balanced diet that works for them during and after treatment. She's a passionate advocate for 'you do you' and using exercise to help balance her mind and body.

  • The chance to ask questions you have about finishing treatment
  • The chance to chat with others who just 'get it' and understand just how you feel
  • Hear from Carolina and Dani about their experiences along with their tips and insight about what they wish they had known

*Please be aware that no medical advice will be provided during this meet up, if you having any questions regarding your treatment please speak to your oncology team*
