Alex's Story

I was 10 years old when I was diagnosed with a GBM 4 brain tumour after a grandmal epileptic seizure. I had an operation, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and Thalidomide. I had treatment for 6 1/2 years. I still have regular scans.

I now have a plate in my head, as doctors didn’t save my skull bones in the emergency operation. I have been left with lots of problems because of that and because of radiotherapy, I have lost my short term memory and I’m slower at doing things. I am visually impaired and use a wheelchair and have epilepsy.
