What cancer were you diagnosed with?

Bowel Cancer

What age were you diagnosed?

28

What has helped you to thrive?

My 5 year old son! On chemotherapy or recovering from operations I remember lying in bed and listening to him play downstairs thinking I need to be part of this, I didn’t want to miss a minute of him growing up, as many people can relate it happens so fast! He is my life and I will do anything in my power to watch him grow up and be the best mummy I can to him!

Kelly's Story

After 6 months of being in agony and seeing my doctors 7 times I was diagnosed at the age of 28 with a cancer that was seen as common in the over 50’s. Bowel cancer. My world was turned upside down! I then went on to have the right side of my bowel removed, 7 cycles of chemotherapy and a multiple liver resection.

In January 2018 I had a NED scan but just 2 months later I found out my cancer had returned. Not only that but I was now inoperable, I’ve gone on to have another 12 cycles of chemotherapy and the results are very promising as I’ve had more than a 40% reduction in the size of the tumours. I’m currently on a break waiting for a decision to be made for another liver operation if this goes ahead it means I can have radiotherapy on the inoperable tumours on my aorta.
