I had just become engaged and was the happiest I had ever been, when I found a little lump above my collarbone. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma just 2 months later. Chemotherapy wasn't easy, but with the support of my family and friends, and with my wedding date booked for just a few weeks after my last chemotherapy date, I got through it. Being told that I was in remission was the most amazing day.
Unfortunately, exactly one year later I was told the cancer was back and that it was aggressive. I was transferred to University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and was told I needed very strong chemotherapy and a stem-cell transplant. This meant lots of hospital stays and trying to get on with life, all whilst carrying a chemo backpack around with me 24/7! However, I made it through - with the help of my amazing friends and family - plus several online communities.
It is amazing how lonely you can feel when facing cancer. Trekstock is amazing in that it provides an online support platform for young people so that they feel like they belong somewhere and they can connect with other young adults who have gone through similar experiences.
