An update from Sophie, Trekstock’s Founder and CEO

What a difference a month makes. It is hard to believe how much and how quickly all our lives have changed in a few short weeks. I hope that you, your families and friends are keeping well and safe during these unprecedented times. Team Trekstock are working hard remotely with plenty of tea and Zoom catch-up calls from London, Yorkshire and Cambridge, to ensure that we continue to deliver and fundraise for our important services. We are committed to helping Trekstock thrive through this unsteady period and we send you all a big thank you for your support and encouragement.

Our community

It’s true that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected us all, but we have seen that the young adults we support - either living with or beyond cancer - have been hit harder than most. Most are at increased risk and will be strictly self-isolating for the next twelve weeks on the Government’s advice. They may also be anxious about the effect that the pandemic could have on their own treatment plans, and be feeling more alone than ever before. All of which means that the services that Trekstock provides are now more important than ever.

Our services

We have been working hard over the last few weeks to make sure we can continue delivering our vital work by connecting our beneficiaries with others who get it, at a time when they need it most. Although we are no longer able to hold any in-person events at present, we have quickly adapted and are moving all our support offerings onto digital platforms, to find new ways to unite our community online.

How you can help Trekstock today

These are undeniably difficult times for all small charities, and Trekstock is no exception. At a time when demand for our services is ever increasing, we have had to postpone three of our major fundraising events before our year end in May. As a charity that receives no government funding, this will represent a significant drop in our income and have an immediate knock on effect on the charity’s future. We are therefore reaching out to our incredible network of individuals and friends of the charity who recognise the vital importance of the work we do. At this challenging moment, you can support Trekstock with a one-off donation, or a regular gift. We also have some other great ideas of how you can support us from home. If you are able to help in any way, however small, we would be so very grateful.

From our homes to yours, take care of yourselves - as always we'd love to hear from you.

Best wishes,
