We're oh-so-glad to announce that Trekstock has been shortlisted for The Charity Awards 2023, the longest running awards scheme in the UK charity sector!

Our Navigating Menopause programme has made the shortlist in the Healthcare & Medical Research category alongside The Fishermen's Mission and St David's Hospice Care.

The Charity Awards, which announces its shortlist today (3 May), is one of the sector’s most highly-regarded excellence recognition schemes. All 30 shortlisted charities this year have been judged by an independent panel of sector leaders as having demonstrated best practice in leadership and management, from which other organisations can learn.

Some cancer treatments mean that people who identify as women can find themselves in early, or medically induced menopause. Up to 40% of women (when we say women, we include all women who identify as such) under 40 go into some type of menopause because of their life-saving treatment.

There’s a failure to recognise menopause as a key part of post-treatment care, and so many young people are left struggling with hot flushes, compounded poor mental health, poor bone health, cardiovascular risks, vaginal atrophy, and poor body image, without adequate support.

Navigating Menopause seeks to empower them to feel confident navigating the treatment options available and to manage their symptoms better whilst connecting them to a supportive community.

The 10 category winners, plus the recipients of the Overall Award for Excellence and the Daniel Phelan Award for Outstanding Achievement, will be announced at a black-tie dinner on 7 June, held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

The evening will be hosted by broadcaster and commentator Ayesha Hazarika, who will be joined on the night by a host of celebrities, representatives of the shortlisted charities, as well as leaders from Britain’s best known and best loved charities.

Sophie Epstone, Founder and Executive Director of Trekstock, said: “We are so thrilled that Trekstock has been shortlisted by the Judges for The Charity Awards. We’re a small charity with a big impact, so we’re really pleased that our Navigating Menopause programme has been recognised for its work empowering and improving the lives of young women with cancer. For Trekstock to be given a platform to speak about a taboo topic faced by this often-overlooked group of people is incredible – thank you!”

Peter Hugh Smith, chief executive at CCLA, Overall Partner of the Charity Awards, said: “Given everything that charities have been through over the last few years, it is vitally important that we continue to promote their endeavours and celebrate excellence in charity management and leadership. This is why CCLA is proud to be the Charity Awards’ Overall Partner again this year – so we can play our part in highlighting the fantastic work of charities large and small, right across the UK. “Trekstock fully deserves its place on the shortlist and we wish their team the very best of luck.”

We couldn't be happier, and we're so excited for June 7th. Thank you to Civil Society Media for the recognition!
