Trekstock are thrilled to announce that our 'Navigating Menopause' programme won the 'Campaigning For Change' Award at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards 2023 on Friday 3rd March.

The Awards are designed to reward the hard work, dedication, innovation and excellence of everyone working in the not-for-profit sector who is making a positive difference to people’s lives, whether they are supporting children or adults. Previous winners across other categories include Islamic Relief, The Trussell Trust, Refugee Action, Alzheimer’s Society and CoppaFeel!

Experiencing early menopause as a result of your cancer treatment is an additional side-effect no one wants, let alone when you're in your 20s or 30s. It can be an extremely isolating experience for young people, with support around menopause so often targeted at older generations. That's why we created our genuinely unique, expert led and evidence based Navigating Menopause programme.

Trekstock is the first charity to run a bespoke menopause programme solely for young people who have gone through any type of cancer which has resulted in early menopause. Our six-week 'Navigating Menopause' online programme empowers those experiencing menopause by tackling taboos and providing advice and guidance.

Designed in partnership with experts and our community, including Dani Binnington from Healthy Whole Me, Navigating Menopause is by the community, for the community.

Jemima Reynolds, Trekstock's Head of Programmes, said:

"I am so proud of this win and the team behind it. Trekstock really does punch above it’s weight! As a smaller charity, to receive this national award means the world and being able to raise the profile of taboo subjects such as menopause is so important. For those in our community living with cancer who are experiencing menopausal symptoms, feeling heard, less isolated and to be in a position to understand more about how to manage your symptoms is vital. Our navigating menopause project does exactly that. We are very humbled by those we work with and we look forward to seeing where this award can take us!"

We couldn't be more proud of this win and we can't wait to continue growing the programme and helping even more of our community as they navigate cancer and the menopause.

A big thank you to everyone at the 3rd Sector Care Awards, to our fellow nominees in the 'Campaigning For Change' category, POhWER and The Care Workers' Charity, and to the brilliant Angela Rippon for presenting us with the award.
