RAG Week and Beyond We are looking for students to join #TeamTrekstock today. Lead and inspire fellow students and help raise vital funds to support our work. Why should you get involved with Trekstock? Did you know 34 people in their 20s and 30s are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK? University is a time for pushing boundaries, personal growth and having fun. It is hard to imagine cancer stopping you in your tracks. SOPHIE'S STORY "I was 19 and just starting my first year of university. After feeling unwell for a few weeks I went to my GP and within 2 weeks I was receiving a cancer diagnosis of Stage 4 Burkitts Lymphoma. I was in total shock, and had to leave uni to spend 6 months as an inpatient in hospital receiving aggressive treatment…I got the all-clear in December 2016 and I have now been in remission for 1 year. I'm back at uni (studying theatre in education) and I am slowly settling back into student life and loving every minute." Calling all students… You have the voice, the understanding and the power to help support people in their 20s or 30s living through and beyond cancer. RAG Societies and Trekstock "As former RAG President 2018/19 at Leeds University, I worked with numerous charities in my final year, all supporting incredible causes. Yet Trekstock, like no other, inspired me due to its collaborative and practical approach to support programme development, providing both physical and psychological support to young adults facing numerous types of cancer. I was inspired by Trekstock’s numerous community and challenge events, particularly the emphasis on inclusivity and engagement of events. As an avid runner and challenge seeker, I feel that Trekstock’s emphasis on physical challenges and movement, ranging from team hikes of the high Atlas Mountains to intimate yoga sessions, deliver a powerful message of personal strength to lift those affected by cancer. These events provide diverse opportunities for individuals to grow in confidence, believe in their abilities and gain a personal sense of achievement."Katie - Trekstock Fundraising Officer As one of the most popular student-led societies at university, RAG (Raising and Giving) Societies are in the best position to support and empower people in their early 20’s and 30’s living through and beyond cancer. We know that the hardest task for a RAG committee each year is to select charities to fundraise for that hold shared values of seeking to support and empower the wider community whilst providing students with exciting experiences to help them love their time at university. We believe Trekstock is this Charity. Want to make a difference? Let’s chat.
