What has helped you to thrive?

I would say my 2 children have helped me thrive through my diagnosis without them honestly I don’t think I would have coped. They have been my driving force.

Sienna's Story

I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS in March 2019 after being told I was too young to have breast cancer by my GP with over 6 visits over 6 weeks they finally referee me to a breast clinic. Again told I’m too young and told to wait a further 20 days for any type of testing.

Mammogram and ultrasound all clear so I begged for a biopsy as I knew something was wrong my breast wasn’t the same it was burning, shooting pains, doubled in size, lumpy. They did one and discovered DCIS I was told I’d need a complete mastectomy due to the size of the mass.

Luckily I was told they had caught it early and I wouldn’t need further treatment except for possible radiotherapy. During surgery, they found grade 3c triple-positive IDC breast cancer with spread to all 16 lymph nodes. Now here I am on cycle 3 of 4 of EC followed by 3 cycles of docetaxel and a future of constant hormone blockers and medications. I went from being an active mum of 2 boys with 35 inches of fiery red hair to be combing out clumps on a day to day basis trying to catch those eyelashes dropping out.
