We probably don’t need to tell you that today, 4th February, is World Cancer Day

When you’re diagnosed with cancer, you’re suddenly bombarded with all sorts of awareness days that you never knew existed. We get it, they’re all over social media, and it’s almost impossible to avoid them. We also get that when you’ve had cancer every day can feel like world cancer day.

And while it can seem like there is a different awareness day that we should be marking every day, we at Trekstock think that this one is a biggie!

So why do we think it’s a big deal? World Cancer Day exists to raise awareness, improve education around cancer and inspire action. And it gives us the opportunity to shout about our work and our brilliant community.

This years theme is ‘Close the Care Gap, it’s all about acknowledging that every single one of us can make a difference, large or small, and that together, we can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer. We are all being asked to call on our leaders to eliminate health inequities by addressing their root causes, ensuring that everyone has access to quality health services when, where and how they need them.

We’ve really taken this message to heart and in 2024 Trekstock will be amplifying the voices of our community to help make real change in the lives of the 14,600 young people in their 20s or 30s diagnosed with cancer each year.

Why do we do it? To help people like Lucy:

Trekstock is an amazing charity that helped me a huge amount when I was going through chemotherapy. They saved me just as much as the doctors did.” Lucy, Trekstock community

We'd really appreciate it if you could donate to us. Your support means that we can continue to grow the charity and support more young people like Lucy. Thank you.
