October is Payroll Giving Month, so here's how you can get involved. It's a great opportunity to show your organisation's commitment to supporting people in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are living with and beyond cancer, and to make it easy for your employees to contribute to our work.
We rely on fundraising to provide movement and wellbeing support to young people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Payroll Giving lets your PAYE employees donate directly from their salary before tax, making their contributions go further, especially for higher-rate taxpayers.
To learn more about Payroll Giving, or other ways you or your organisation can support Trekstock Cancer Support, email us at hello@trekstock.com.

It’s easy to set up – just follow the four simple steps below.
Step 1: Get in touch with a Payroll Giving Agency to set up a scheme. You can find a list of HMRC approved Payroll Giving agencies here.
Step 2: Once you've set up a scheme, employees will be able to sign up to start donating to Trekstock Cancer Support. Scroll on for some ideas of how to promote Payroll Giving to your employees.
Step 3: On payday, your payroll department will deduct the donation directly from your employees' salaries.
Step 4: Donations are then sent from your organisation to the Payroll Giving Agency, who will transfer the funds to your employees' chosen charities.
Why should I offer my employees Payroll Giving?
- To demonstrate your organisation's commitment to giving back and helping people in their 20s, 30s and 40s whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
- To help employees support causes they're passionate about, which can boost staff morale.
- Payroll Giving is a straight-forward, secure and flexible way for employees to make regular donations. It’s easy to stop, start or change donations.
- Anyone who is on a PAYE salary can contribute, making it an inclusive method of giving. There's no upper or lower limit to donations.

How to promote Payroll Giving
- Let your employees know about Payroll Giving by using your internal comms networks, chatting to them about it in meetings, posting about it on your internal HR portal, or putting up posters in your office.
- Match your employers' contributions – Your organisation could donate a one-off amount for every employee who signs up to Payroll Giving; match employees’ donations fully (e.g. if an employee donates £10, your organisation also donates £10); or donate a set amount for every employee contribution. However you choose to boost your employees’ contributions, matching Payroll Giving contributions will give employees an additional incentive to sign up and help them make an even bigger impact.
- Offer employees additional incentives, such as an entry into a prize draw, or a thank you from senior management.
- Share the impact your employees' donations can have: £10 could help someone living with cancer access our Food + Cancer Guide, giving them easy tips on how to eat well and nourish their body as they go through treatment.
