Trekstock launches the refreshed Food + Cancer Guide

Trekstock Launches Refreshed Food + Cancer Guide at Sold-Out London Event
On the evening of 22 April, Trekstock brought together clinicians, nutritionists, chefs, advocates and community members at Samsung Kings Cross for the launch of the refreshed Food + Cancer Guide.
Hosted by Lauren Mahon, best known as co-host of the award-winning podcast You, Me & The Big C, the event drew a sold-out in-person crowd, with 60 more people joining our live stream of the event. Together, they took part in an honest, expert-led conversation about one of the most confusing - and most searched - topics for people living with and beyond cancer: food.
The evening featured a panel of some of the most knowledgeable and generous voices working at the intersection of nutrition and cancer. Dr Joshua Wolrich, Dr Anisha Patel, Chef Abby Lee, Toral Shah, Dr Ailsa Sita Lumsden and Monika Siemicka took on everything from diet fads and influencer myths to what eating well actually looks like during treatment, recovery and long-term survivorship. The conversation was everything we'd hoped it would be: warm, accessible, practical and educational.
The guide itself, produced in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, is the result of a significant update to Trekstock's original 2023 edition. This new version is more deeply informed by lived experience, more inclusive of different dietary needs and food budgets, and more comprehensive in its coverage, including brand new recipes developed by nutritional scientist and integrative oncology practitioner Toral Shah, who brought her own lived experience as a three-times breast cancer thriver to the project.
The statistics that underpin the guide's importance are striking. Every day, 99 people in their 20s, 30s and 40s are diagnosed with cancer in the UK, and early-onset cancer rates have risen 24% in recent years. For this growing group, food and nutrition is one of the most searched topics, yet 45% of the Trekstock community report that social media leaves them more confused about what to eat, not less. The guide is designed to change that, offering clear, evidence-based guidance that cuts through the noise and respects the reality of people's lives, including their time, their budgets and their dietary preferences.
The Food + Cancer Guide is now available completely free of charge. It can be accessed ia the Trekstock website and will also be available at future community events.
If you weren't able to join us on the night, the full panel discussion is available to watch on YouTube
We'd like to also extend our heartfelt thanks to the amazing team at Samsung KX for helping bring the evening to life, as well as to our event sponsors: Chugai Pharma and Astellas Pharma
