Trekstock Cancer Support, with the support of the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation, proudly launches an 8-week movement and wellbeing programme in Newcastle to help young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s boost their strength, confidence, and connection with others during and after cancer treatment.

Nat, Trekstock's Programmes Lead, recently met with Rory, the lead trainer, and the rest of the team in our partner venue charity Healthworks Newcastle, to kick off the exciting new venture in the North. The programme aims to create a safe space where people living with and beyond cancer can come together, engage in tailored physical activities, and attend informative workshops on topics such as mindfulness and nutrition.

"Trekstock's exercise programme was the one thing that was consistent for me after cancer treatment. When my mental health and life was upturned, regular exercise with the group structured my week. It gave me hope for my body; the sessions gave me confidence that I could regain strength physically and mentally again.” participant

The 45-minute sessions are followed by 30-minute workshops and are adapted to accommodate all fitness levels and challenges. Sessions combine resistance training and cardio exercises to improve strength, stamina, and flexibility. The instructors will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the programme to ensure participants feel comfortable and perform exercises correctly.

This free programme is open to cancer survivors in various stages, including those recently diagnosed, undergoing active treatment, living with stage 4 cancer, in remission, or experiencing late effects. Classes will be held every Thursday, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, starting October 9th and running through November 27th at Healthworks in Newcastle upon Tyne.

To secure your spot and join a supportive community of people committed to improving their fitness levels and overall wellbeing, register today! Spaces are limited, so don't miss out on this life-changing opportunity.
