We are thrilled to share that our very own Founder and CEO, Sophie Epstone, has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours.
Last week, Sophie travelled to Windsor Castle for the investiture ceremony, where she was awarded an MBE by the Princess Royal
This prestigious recognition highlights Sophie's unwavering dedication to Trekstock and her outstanding contributions to improving the lives of people living with and beyond cancer. Sophie's passion and drive have touched the lives of countless people in their 20s, 30s and 40s with cancer, providing them with vital support, resources, and an empowering community.
This award reflects the work that Trekstock has taken on, as well as the amazing results that we've seen providing mental and physical wellbeing support to people with cancer in their 20s, 30s and 40s.
However it also highlights the scale and importance of our mission: with 99 people in this population receiving a cancer diagnosis every day, Trekstock's ambition to empower them both physically and mentally has never been so urgent. Trekstock serves a group of people who need support as they navigate a life alongside and beyond cancer, and unfortunately that need continues to grow.
Speaking about the award, Sophie said:
It's been an honour and a privilege to join so many wonderful people at Windsor Castle this week for the Kings Birthday Honours investiture ceremony. Receiving this award was a hugely meaningful moment, but the recognition shouldn't be for me alone: the entire Trekstock Cancer Support community have contributed so much time, energy and pure passion to get us to this place, and this is as much their moment as it is mine.
Even beyond that, this is an opportunity to reflect on why Trekstock exists in the first place. More and more people in their 20s, 30s and 40s are receiving cancer diagnoses each year, and they're in need of community, support and advocacy.
So this was an incredible highlight in the Trekstock journey, and it represents a truly special milestone for all of us - but it's also a powerful message that our work is just getting started. As 2026 goes on and we expand our reach and support across the country, we as a team will all look back on today as just another motivation to keep going.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us and believed in us
Announced in June of last year, Sophie’s investiture on Tuesday comes at an especially exciting time for Trekstock: alongside the National Lottery-funded expansion of our Meet & Move programme, we have also recently announced a new, multi-year collaboration with Fujifilm UK that will see Trekstock’s impact continue to grow across the UK.
