What helped you to thrive?

Initially, my family and friends helped me to thrive beyond cancer. They helped me by treating me exactly the same as if I were a normal child. Jonathan's Story

When I was 10 years old I was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in my right thigh. My treatment entailed 6 courses of chemotherapy and a total knee replacement and partial replacement of both my tibia and femur. I've had to have a number of further surgeries following my initial treatment, but I have now been in remission for 14 years.

Initially, my family and friends helped me to thrive beyond cancer. They helped me by treating me exactly the same as if I were a normal child. However, now I'm in my 20's and I still have to keep thriving through the physical challenges that I face - a result of my various surgeries when I was younger. Fortunately, I am now overcoming feats and reaching personal achievements that I once deemed impossible - especially in those dark early days of recovery.

Trekstock is such a vibrant charity with fresh ideas and a unique approach to helping young people who suffer or have suffered from cancer. There was nothing like Trekstock available to me 14 years ago. I think it's vital for young adults to have a support network available to them where they can contact and speak to like minded people who have or are experiencing similar difficulties brought on by cancer. I am now at a stage where I want to give back and help others with their battle against cancer.
